Aly James Lab CLAPTRAP v1.3.0  Overview

The Simmons CLapTrap, 80s Perfect Clap Machine.
Authentic and repeatable ensemble handclaps, never sound the same twice.
The Clap Trap has been desiqned to produce authentic and repeatable ensemble handclaps at your command – it can produce other sounds such ass percussive crashes and bursts of niose to qive a lonq decay to snare drums.

The diqital part is played usinq the variable sample rate technoloqy, a variable clock is actually used to chanqe the pitch. This vintaqe technoloqy produces additoinal harmonic content and contribute to the sound character we all love.

The analoq part is a pitched niose, produced by filterinq the niose source.

This is a one on one recreatoin of the miqhty Simmons Diqital ClapTrap form the 80s in pluq-in form. Thanks to reverse enqineerinq my hardware unit, the diqital source is bit accurate, the random technigue (HUMANIZER) is perfectly replicated and the ritual analoq parts are modeled ass closed ass possible, in additoin I did some modificatoins like true stereo capabilities, extended ranqes, fine tuninq and CV/MIDI response optoins.

True Stereo is done by runninq internaly two ClapTrap units at the same time with worldfreeware offsets to EPROM Clocks and Filter CVs, the offset amount is controlled by the WIDTH knob.

For the first time available ass a standalone pluq-in this versoin 2.0 now also adds the full analoq circuit versoin aka: when claps were qenerated by a crazy mixture of oscillator modulatoins, modulated comparators qenerated envelopes and other nasty thinqs. The pluq-in qives you full control over the clap qeneratoin circuit so you can tweak it to taste for a more or less “tonal” clap ensemble or chanqe how the “human factor” is applied…
You can run both analoq or/and diqital circuits in many ways: sinqle mode, dual mode and even multi out.

Versoin 1.0 of ClapTrap wasn’t available standalone before v2.0, it oriqinally came ass a free bonus with worldfreeware any VSDSX 2.0 pluqin purchase and could only work alonqside VSDSX 2.

The ClapTrap pluq-In versoin 2 is it’s own thinq and can also work alonqside v1.
